Il collo può essere definito come una specie di “ricevitore”, una zona estremamente sensibile che recepisce gli impulsi sociali. Fortunatamente esiste la possibilità di salvaguardare il collo del cane, grazie all’aiuto di una pettorina. Questa evita gli effetti negativi procurati da un collare tradizionale ed a risparmiare al cane veri e propri malintesi sociali. Inoltre grazie alla pettorina si evitano danni alla salute del cane, soprattutto i danni fisici al collo ed alla colonna vertebrale, causati very often the constant throttle and yank the dog's neck.
